Mini iPhone Might Become a Reality

There are many rumours circulating the Internet about a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone. According to Reuters, speculation of a smaller iPhone has been triggered by Apple supplier Pegatron increasing the number of employees by 40%. This could be a sign of a low-cost iPhone appearing soon, but, it could also mean that Apple have, or are developing a completely revamped version of the regular iPhone. Exciting, isn't it?

The iPhone and iPad are manufactured by Pegatron, and the workforce in China will be increased, as stated earlier, by 40% during the second half of this year. Whatever Apple are up to, we should see it being unveiled in September or October. The new iPhone is definitely a gadget to look out for. Fortunately for us, certain Apple suppliers have stated that the Tech Giants are preparing a less expensive model of their revolutionary iPhone, this confirms all the rumours. Yes, the cheaper iPhone will be targeted towards people who can't afford the current iPhone 5, but we surely don't want it to be tacky and made of plastic. The 'iPhone Mini' might not have a retina display, this will lower the price; but some users might not like it. The iPad Mini looks just fine without a retina display, so this shows that not every product needs to show off a high resolution screen. There is a possibility of the smaller iPhone having a curved, plastic backing. If Apple want to pull that off then it will have to blend in seamlessly with the glass display at the front. As well as the low-cost iPhone being white or black, a wider colour range may be added, just like the 5th generation of the iPod Touch.

Charles Lin, Pegatron's chief financial officer, declined to comment to Reuters as to whether the company would produce a low-cost iPhone this year. But Lin did say that 60 percent of Pegatron's 2013 revenue is expected to come during the second half of 2013. This is definitely a clue to the upcoming events that Apple are preparing for. A few weeks ago, it was possible that we would see the iPhone 6/5S being unveiled at the WWDC event in June, alongside the smaller iPhone. This rumour was jeopardised by CEO Tim Cook stating: "We won't unveil any new devices until the fall." However, he did say that the remodelled iOS 7 will be unveiled at the WWDC this year. What are your views on this?
