Apple's Game Controller: Coming Soon?

Apple has been meeting with numerous developers at this year's Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, to talk about the forthcoming Apple game controller. Touchscreens leave a certain something to be desired when it comes to playing games, and Apple may just be feeling the same way, a report suggests. The Cupertino company has booked a meeting room to talk about a game-centric device. No one knows what the 'iController' will look like or when it will see daylight, but rumours suggest that it might be soon.

The whole game controller thing might seem a little silly, but Apple do hide a lot of surprises up their sleeve. Apple might be thinking of enhancing the gaming experience on their handheld devices - the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. They will have to get it right without any slip-ups, to interest the public and avoid being flooded with complaints. A certain review reads "I know of an internal Apple project to bring a physical controller to market, but whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen," Someone slipped up a bit there and let loose some vital evidence that Apple are thinking of creating a game controller. As well as that, Apple has been seen bulking itself up with various gaming patents for a few years now, signalling that they are up to something. A patent from 2008 describes an accessory that is wrapped around with a touchscreen. Does that sound familiar? Another patent from last year takes a different approach.

Apple fans are most certainly excited about this, after all, we all love new tech. Don't be disappointed if we don't see an 'iController' soon, the Tech Giants might be building up to something big.
