$10,000 App Store Gift Card Winner Announced

The 50 billionth app was downloaded by Brandon Ashmore, from Mentor in Ohio, yesterday at about 10pm (British Time). The app Ashmore downloaded was called Say the Same Thing. The winner received the $10,000 App Store gift card to commemorate this huge milestone, which will be remembered, stated Apple.

Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services said: "Apple would like to thank our incredible customers and developers for topping 50 billion apps downloaded. The App Store completely transformed how people use their mobile devices and created a thriving app ecosystem that has paid out over nine billion dollars to developers. We’re absolutely floored to cross this milestone in less than five years." The App Store only held 500 apps when it was opened in July 2008. This number has risen to a massive 850,000+ apps for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch which are available to users in 155 countries. We can all say that Apple is one of, if not the most successful company of all time.
